Graduate High School using your Classic Learning Test score!
You can use your CLT score to meet graduation benchmarks in the state of Florida!
To pass your ELA benchmarks, you need to score a combined 39 out of 80 on the Verbal Reasoning and Grammar / Writing sections of the CLT.
There are 40 questions on each section. And you get a point for getting a question correct.
And you just have to get 39 questions correct out of 80 total questions on these two sections of the test.
For example, you can get 25 questions correct on Verbal Reasoning and 14 questions correct on the Grammar / Writing and you will pass, because that's 39 total questions correct.
Yes, you can superscore your CLT to meet graduation benchmarks!
If you score a 20 on the Verbal Reasoning one test date, then score a 20 on the Grammar / Writing on another test date, you pass!
You can use the best score you have ever gotten on each section of the CLT Exam to pass.
And you can take the CLT as many times as you need to.
You can take the CLT every single month, online, from the comfort of your own home, in just 2 hours (that's how long the test takes).
In order to pass the Verbal Reasoning section of the CLT, you must make sure you answer all 40 questions.
There is no additional penalty for guessing on the CLT - so, if you get a question wrong, that's totally fine.
So it's really important that you put an answer down for every single question, even if you have to guess on some of them.
Remember - you need to get a 39 out of 80 combined on the Verbal Reasoning and the Grammar / Writing section - so it's a good plan to get at least half of the questions correct on each section.
In order to do that on the Verbal Reasoning section, you need to use a strategy that will help you answer all of the easy questions.
Here's what that means:
There are 40 questions on the Verbal Reasoning section, and there are 4 reading passages (10 questions per passage).
There are easy questions for each passage.
So, question 40 (the last question) could be the easiest question on the entire section!
And you need to make sure you have time to answer all of these easy questions - so guessing on the hard questions is a good strategy to save some time.
Our Florida Graduation Equivalence Study Guide teaches you exactly how to do that so you can pass!
Just like the Verbal Reasoning section, you must answer all 40 questions to give yourself the best chance of passing.
Remember - you must score a combined 39 out of 80 on the Verbal Reasoning and Grammar / Writing sections of the CLT to pass your ELA benchmarks.
And there's no additional penalty for guessing, so you should make sure you answer every single question, even if you need to guess on some of them.
And just like the Verbal Reasoning section, there are 4 passages on the Grammar / Writing section, with some easy questions for each passage (and some hard ones for each passage).
So, you need to answer all of the questions to make sure you have the chance to answer all of the easy ones.
To pass the Math benchmark, you need to get a 14 out of 40 on the Quantitative Reasoning (Math) section.
On this section, the questions get more difficult as you answer more of them.
So Question 40 will feel like the hardest question on the test, and Question 1 should feel like one of the easiest questions on the test.
And again, there is no additional penalty for guessing, so you want to make sure you at least select an answer for every single question.
But you should spend the most amount of time answering the easier questions on the section so you can get a 14 out of 40 correct.
